Need Some Suggestions

Forgive me for crossposting this, but I'm really needing some help.

My husband, who is the sweetest, goofiest guy imaginable, and shy to boot, is having a problem at work. When he got hired at this company, four years ago, he got a job that several people wanted. And it did make it difficult for him to have been hired from the outside for a job that current employees wanted to have. He's the kind of guy who keeps himself to himself, but it hasn't stopped making him a target for gossip and spite.

We're heavily involved with the BDSM community, and unfortunately, someone in our community felt the need to "out" him as a submissive. This of course made a field day for the gossip network, and his feelings were horribly hurt. But he did his best to ignore it, and went on about his business. He's very good at what he does, and upper management seems to love him. His problem is the gossip and spite.

Here is what I've done so far:

Blessed a plant (and empowered it with sex magic) so that people who wish him ill feel uncomfortable in the area where the plant is, and he feels calmer and more centered around the plant. (Unfotunately, this can only apply to his cube. he can't take a plant or anything else into the lab.)

Given him an empowered Ganesh statuette for success at work.

Cast reflecting spells on the worst gossips so that anything they say will reflect badly on them with management. (This has resulted in one finding another job, and another getting a week off without pay.)

I'm running out of ideas and ways to fight back without getting malevolent. Unfotunately, the guy who got a week off seems to be blaming my husband for his unscheduled vacation and working harder to start trouble between my husband and a person who was recently hired to start a new division where my husband wants to work. He's been spreading rumors that indicate that my husband runs to HR if anyone offends him. (Not true at all. He didn't complain to HR even when he was outed as being kinky.)

Anyone got any ideas for spells, charms, or what not that I am missing?

I'm good at this, but I'm getting so angry (I know, not a good place to practice from) that I'm considering taking the advice of the lady I buy herbs from (a hoo doo woman) and do something really nasty.

PlayShop Questions...

Ok, I have a question. or maybe a few.

I'm holding a series of events, PlayShops. My previous announcement is here: http://teamnoir.name/ChrisEnglish/PlayShop.html. My goal here is to create opportunities for people to learn about spirituality, magick, and ritual, in bdsm play and to begin to develop a network of folks who practice this. This means both initial structure and teaching for total newbies, room for experimentation and practice for folks who have some experience, and opportunities to teach or lead for folks with a bit of experience.

The previous one went ok. I wrote an evaluation here: http://teamnoir.livejournal.com/103056.html.

I like the format of some less formal chat, talk about smudging, encourage other people to practice it. Then open the space somehow, circle, vortex, drumming, or whatever. And while I may be the only one, I rather liked the eye gazing exercises, though I'll admit they could have been spiced up and gone further.

Second half, I'd like to get most participants playing, somehow. And here's the gotcha. I can demo any number of things, at least bdsm-wise. But attempting to do so in a way that makes the play clearly and obviously spiritual, and in which the participants will feel comfortable playing, is the tricky part.

So my question is...

How do I make the play portion more juicy, without alienating too many people by asking them to play with folks they might not know well? I'm looking for a sanity check here, or perhaps some suggestions. How concerned should I be about that? Should I be hunting for things everyone can do, (albeit at perhaps differing intimacy levels), or should I simply be looking for play and exercises that some or most can do which could result in some challenges for the remainders?

At this point, I'm thinking of focusing on consecration next time and asking people to bring toys with which they haven't yet played, (even if it's just a hunk of rope). We'll clear them, and then... I dunno. Maybe I should just ask people what they might do with their toy, in this space, with these people, in order to claim it, or to "burn it in", to begin to make their toy an item with sentimental value. Somehow I'm scared that everyone will just shrug and look to me for some form of structure.

Thoughts? Suggestions?

Play piercing in a ritual

I had an idea to do a scene with play piercing and symbolism, as a ritual. I'm soon going to be entering a new phase in my life, and I'd like to do a protection and blessing ritual, with piercings incorporated.

Here's the thought in my head, so far. I'd like to have someone put the needles in my back in the shape of symbol, and then attach them all to each other with string, so I would act as the conduit, instead of being inside the circle. (For instance, if I chose a pentagram, the needles would be at the points, and the string or whatever would make the lines).

Does anyone have any ideas on this topic?

Ritual Cleansing and Consecration

Equinox marks the start of spring - of the astrological symbol Aries who
stands for and rules fresh starts and new beginnings. One such new
beginning is the new south bay bdsm play space, Edges, which will be
holding it's first play party this weekend. Before that happens,
though, I want to cleanse and consecrate the space. And for that
project, I'm looking for some help.

I'm holding a ritual this Saturday, starting at 4pm, at the space in San
Jose. If you drum, dance, or know how to open ritual space in any
tradition, and would like to help at this time, I'd like to hear from

I am so looking forward to going. It is like a oasis in the middle of life. I enjoy going and just hanging out and talking with people and getting high from all the wonderful energy. I again will be there Friday afternoon thru Moday afternoon. Talk about hating to leave. I even saty for the eating of the leftover food. After the first year I stopped trying to go to evry class/workshop. I found that I just enjoyed shopping and being with like minded folks. The costumes are awesome. I get to see friends that I only see at ren faire and other pagan events. The parties are fun and intertesting. Okay 11 days and counting down wheeee!!

I am a single, Pagan, male, 34, 5’ 8”, #215. I do not smoke, drink or use drugs. I have natural black hair and chameleon eyes (they naturally change color!). I enjoy many things. Some of the things I love to do are camping, Burning Man, hiking, snow, road trips, live music, theatre, and more.

I am a Pagan. I want to get this part out now. I have no plans on changing religions. I am in the service of Brigit. She is my main Goddess. My totem is a Sidhe. I use to be a Bull but I am in transition.

I am an avid camper. I have lots of camp stuff. I do not necessary take everything with me. I just take what I need. I love to camp in the South West Deserts, redwoods, beaches, and Mono Lake. I just about camp anywhere!!!

This year was my first Burning Man trip. Unfortunately none of my friends could make it and I ended up going alone. I did have a great time but wish I had people to share it with. I would love to go again but no alone.

Snow!!! Snow is one of my elements. You may see this in my tribe gallery. I am currently learning to snow board. I have been trying since last season. I hope I will get it this year! I do love to snow shoe. I do own my own pair and use them every season either at Kirkwood or Yosemite.

Road trips are a must for me. I love to travel either by driving or train. I have been to many states in my truck Thor. I do road trips year around. Regardless of rain or snow.

I love the muse!!! I love the arts!!! I love live music and theatre. Matter of fact I got to see Dead Can Dance when they where in Oakland.

Sex… I am straight but not narrow. The reason what I am talking about this now is to get two things out of the way. I am in to some BDSM but not into the life style. It is more then kinky play. A little over 12 years ago now I held a series of play events in the leather faerie style. They were basically constructed as an opening ritual which fed into play as a form of raising energy, all directed toward a stated goal, usually directed toward the benefit, advancement, and exploration of the participants individually and as a group.

I haven't been seeing many of these in recent years. I miss them tremendously. And I'm wondering if there's enough interest to restart something like this, perhaps on a monthly basis.

So I'm looking for a sort of showing of hands. If you'd be interested in something like this, please let me know. Followups are cool, questions are cool, PM is cool. Also, if you have any tantra experience or training, I'd be interested in hearing about it. And if you consider yourself capable of constructing and leading the ritual portion of such an event, (pretend I have a suitable invitation list, play space, date, etc), please let me know that too.

SF Citadel is proud to announce that we have secured a new home. The
even better news is that this is one of our very top picks among all
the buildings and spaces we viewed, because it's got so much
possibility.

The new space is at 1277 Mission Street between 8th and 9th (yes,
right around the corner). It has two floors and the available space
is about equal to the current space. There is easy street parking at
night, parking lots close by, and it's even closer to mass
transportation.

As they say, "good things come to those who wait."

Once Folsom is over, we will go into packing
mode. We have a "moving specialist" who will be organizing multiple
work parties to pack it all up and move it down the block. Work
parties will be starting sometime during the week after Folsom, and
you c! an help.

I find it goes together quite well. I am a Domme and being a Pagan Domme is very easy. I am respectful of other’s paths, and do not expect my subs to change their belief structure to paganism, but a powerful goddess image is easy when your Domme.

I am
British Traditionalist Wiccan in our tradition the God lays his power before the Goddess. This works well with D/s.

Sharanya presents a Community Open Circle: Kali Puja, Devi Worship at

Witch Camp is offered to women and men at all levels
of experience. Newcomers can learn the basic skills of
magic and ritual, working with the elements, movement,
sound and the mythological and historical framework of

chance to apply the tools of ritual to personal
healing and empowerment, or a focus on taking the
Craft out into the world, creating public ritual,
ongoing groups, and healing issues surrounding

This year Witchcamp will be held at the Mendocino
Woodlands, located just far enough outside the town of
Mendocino to avoid coastal fog. The camp is set among
a mature Redwood/Douglas Fir forest, creating a
beautiful, peaceful setting. The cabins are rustic,
but pretty. Camping is also an option. A small river
runs through the camp, which is actually the home of
steelhead trout.

I think I need a new goddess. Or an archetype. Or something. I want more than just a single actress or a single television or movie role. Something I can study a little more. Something I can communicate with. Something I can invoke.

Check this out and lemme know if it rings any bells...

I'm near positive it's a "she". And her primary trait, or at least one of her primary traits, is that she's social. Probably not a hostess or an entertainer, but someone who enjoys social parties, knows how to work a room. Unlike Venus, who draws things to her, I'm thinking of someone more like saggitarius, more proactive.

It's not about sex, so neither youth nor attractiveness are required, though some level of sexual self awareness is probably required. It's not about social party drugs, though some level of familiarity and ability are probably assumed.

About the best thing I've come up with so far is a modern tv/movie archetype of a new york literary agent.

Some Thoughts on Cats as Familiars

There is something otherworldly about cats. Maybe it’s the eyes, those mysterious, eyes so responsive to light, and set in the front of their heads like human eyes. Maybe it’s the quietness of their movements, when they wish to be quiet, and the disproportionate noise they can make when they want to be noticed.

I’ve always felt that those who live with cats in preference to living with dogs are people who can deal with animals who are independent and who are almost totally self centered. I’m not saying that your cats can’t love you; they are capable of great love, but they also have a very, very strong streak of self interest. Their first thought is always predicated on their own best interest.

So we come to choosing familiars.

Now cats are much smarter than dogs. I’ve had both, and it is, actually, very apparent that cats are much more rational creatures. So from an intelligence standpoint, it would make sense to choose a cat as a familiar. However, cats do have their own agenda. And their agenda may have no relationship to yours.

I’ve never worked with a familiar before now. I’ve been reading a lot about familiars and it seemed that it might be fun to share my workings with one of my cats. I asked all three of my cats if they would like to be familiars. One declined to do anything that involved his leaving the house, even on an astral plane, one had absolutely no interest as it would conflict with his body building schedule, the third…well, she at least was curious about it. We agreed to give it a try.

So, she spent a day helping me edit my Grimoire. Then she needed a really, really, long nap, and lots of petting as the effort she had expended sitting on the back of my office chair and making comments had made her extremely tired. The next day, she claimed she was too tired to be able to help in any way. She did feel the need to check out everything in my herb chest when I was sorting and labeling my herbs, but as far as spell work went, she totally lacked interest: until I was performing a spell that involved keeping someone from talking quite so much. That interested her.

Did I mention that this cat is one of the most malevolent little creatures that has ever walked the earth? She spends a lot of time telling visitors that she’s horribly mistreated because I force her to consort with two (retired) male cats who don’t always listen to her when she gives orders. Not to mention my horrible husband, the guy who doesn’t look to see if a cat is around before he lies down on the bed, and who doesn’t treat her as the Goddess she knows she is. I’ve had catfights take place on my prone body when I was ill since she and my oldest male cat both have laid claim to me as their property, and they don’t believe in sharing at all. She’s somewhat more violent about it than he is. And she’s the one who usually starts it. Beautiful as she is (and she’s so perfect you’d think she was designed by a pro), she has a temper like a rabid wolverine. And her sense of entitlement is amazing. She eats first, the food dish must never have any of the porcelain on the bottom showing through the dry food, and Goddess forbid that I ever cook any meat, fish, or dairy product without getting her approval and allowing her to taste test. Nor should she ever be disturbed during any of her frequent naps by ANYONE or anything. Vacuuming (or the cat eating machine) means that she is going to cuss me out for hours afterward. And should I leave the house, she will give me a full report on everything that happened while I was away.

I should have guessed that she was going to be in sympathy with any magick that is not totally beneficent. I think she would have been ecstatic if I were to be doing magick with an evil bent. Unfortunately, it’s not what I do.

Outside of a stop gossip spell here, and returning the sending there, everything I do is pretty innocuous. And she finds this boring. She seems to have been made to be the companion of an evil witch. I’m sure I’m a grave disappointment to her.

I no longer think I want a familiar. And I’m not sure I need one.

Sweat Lodge in San Gironimo

April 24 - Sweat Lodge Ceremony - San Geronimo
Seven Circles will host a Sweat Lodge Ceremony at Solstice Grove
Lodge, 550 Nicasio Valley Road, at 5:00pm. The Sweat Lodge is
probably the most recognized of all Native American Ceremonies. The
Sweat Leader holds the sacred space and helps the participants with
prayer and songs. In most of the Seven Circles lodges, the ceremony
within the lodge is somewhat akin to a "talking circle". Participants
are invited to speak from their hearts about their life and their
community concerns. This is a ceremony of purification and prayer. In
the heat and the darkness of the lodge, we can come closer to
ourselves, closer to Creator, and closer to understanding each other.
Kids are encouraged to attend. Bring a towel and loose clothes you
can wear into the lodge. Please bring food for the sacred feast
afterwards, a plate, a cup and silverware. We wish to honor the Earth

Join us for fun and frolic, food and friendship, service and
sanitation and maybe even a dip into the beautiful Pacific Ocean on
the 3rd Saturday of every month, April through September from 12:00-
3:00pm. We will provide the bags if you will do your part and help us
fill them. Bring your drums, songs, chants and food to share. The
more the merrier. Bonny Doon Beach has ample free parking, and there
is the benefit that it is clothing optional. The cleanups are not
part of any program, so we are on our own as far as hauling away the
trash and recycle. We will supply bags for nails, glass, and trash.

cup, drinking water, sunscreen, sunglasses, work gloves and something
to sit on. Remember it is usually colder along the water, so dress

Sacramento Pagan Unity Network invites you to their First Annual
Beltane Ball, held in the upstairs dance hall of the Owl Club, 109
Church Street. The festivities will be in an adults-only atmosphere;
21 and over. Dinner (optional) will be served from 7:00-9:00pm and
the dancing will begin around 8:30pm. Pagan Folk Rock band, Hecate's
Riddle, will headline the event, performing their original music,
selected classic rock covers and some outrageous trance-jams. There
is a possibility of guest musicians as well. "Canned" music will be
played between sets and after. At some point in the evening we will
break for a drum circle, so bring drums and noisemakers. Festive
dress is encouraged, let your creativity flow. Follow the law of the
land until you get upstairs, once there the only rule (of clothing)
is to keep your genitals covered and respect your neighbors' space.

Anne Hill presents the Music and Ritual in Earth-Based Spirituality
workshop at the UU Church of Palo Alto, 505 E. Charleston Rd, from
1:00-3:00pm. Creating ritual is an innate human activity, one that we
practice every time we celebrate a birthday or seasonal holiday. Even
very brief rituals can take us out of the daily routine and into
special time where we are reminded of the power of Spirit in our
lives. Music plays many roles in Pagan ritual, from solemn chant to
rousing group singing. In this workshop we will talk about how to
design rituals, and explore some of the ways music can be used in
ritual. We will learn chants and songs suitable for many
celebrations, that can be enjoyed by old and young alike. All ages
are welcome. Come prepared to sing. Songsheets will be provided. Anne
is co-author with Starhawk of _Circle Round: Raising Children in
Goddess Traditions and through her music label

The Berkeley Fellowship of Unitarian Universalists (BFUU), 1924 Cedar
St, hosts The Moon Circle on the 3rd Sunday of every month at 7:00pm.
All are welcome to these ritual celebrations of the seventh UU
principle respecting the interdependent web and the sacred circle of
life. This is an earth-centered and goddess-honoring exploration
which was born out of the UU curriculum, Rise Up and Call Her Name: A
Woman-Honoring Journey into Global Earth-Based Spiritualities. The
circle provides a space and time for direct experience of the
transcending mystery and wonder which moves us to a renewal of the
spirit and openness to the forces which create and uphold life.

Invite your friends. Then, lets talk about what we'd like to do with this group. I'd like to set up so that we could get together from time time.

For the women in the group, there is a place called ChangeMakers in the East Bay that is women only and is a metaphysical shop. They do some wonderful women only ceremonies.

In other news, Alaya on University had it's last day of business today.

And Ancient Ways is cutting the hours of some of the staff due to a slowdown in business.

Lets support these businesses as much as possible.

And what you practice!!

Now that we are here, we should start talking.

I worship Kali, Lilith, Kwan Yin, Ganesh and two Neko. I also have Buddha on my altar to assist me with things like patience.

I practice various forms of magick, and I was a solitary practitioner until my family started to get together more for ceremonies. We celebrate the usual celtic ceremonies like Midsummer and Candlemass.

I think it might be fun if we got together for one of the holidays.

Imbolc Celebration

I attended the Imbolc celebration (women only) at Change Makers last night. It was wonderful, and it was inspiring.

There was one other leather person there.

It occurs to me that we should have a group of our own.

Now, I don't know if there are enough of us to have such a group, but I thought I'd find out.
